Soy – lat. Glycine max
Bc Institut has no breeding programmes of its own to create soya bean varieties. Over past ten years or so, intensive work is performed in soya bean seed production aiming at early and medium-early varieties (00, 0, 0-I).
The production programme of seed multiplication is performed with the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb and S.I.S., Società Italiana Sementi. All the varieties have been created through standard selection methods without genetic manipulation.
Name | Characteristics |
---|---|
XENA![]() | very early (00-000) • Flower color: violet • Hair color: dark brown • Stem: medium low (65 – 75 cm), resistant to lodging, at the time of harvest it is dry and completely discards the leaf • Resistance: excellent tolerance to diseases and lodging • Fertility: above 4.5 t/ha • Oil and protein content: the grain contains an extremely high content of oil (18 – 20%) and protein (39 – 42%) • In an optimal combination, it gives extremely high grain yields with low harvest moisture. GMO FREE. • Optimum sowing date: middle of April • Very suitable for subsequent and lateral sowing • Quantity of seeds in sowing: 600,000 – 700,000 plants/ha, cca 150 kg/ha |

GMO FREE. • Optimum sowing date: from April 15 • Quantity of seeds in sowing: 450,000 – 550,000 plants/ha |
PEDRO![]() | mid-early (0-I) • Flower color: violet • Hair color: brown • Stem: medium height to short, excellent resistance to lodging, at the time of harvest the stem is dry and without leaves • Resistance: excellent tolerance to diseases and lodging • Weight of 1000 grains: 165 – 175 g • Fertility: above 5.5 t/ha, Maximum yield in trials - 5.55 t/ha • Oil and protein content: the grain contains an extremely high content of oil (21-24%) and protein (39-40%). • In an optimal combination, it gives extremely high grain yields with low harvest moisture. Traditional breeding reduced the content of anti-nutritional substances (TIAmg/g) of grain compared to standard varieties. GMO FREE. • Optimum sowing date: from April 15 • Quantity of seeds in sowing: 450,000 – 550,000 plants/ha A variety of indeterminate growth type (grows and blooms gradually), stable and excellent yield, suitable for early sowing as the main crop and as a follow-up crop, tolerates a denser structure well. |

Maximum yield in trials - 5.52 t/ha • Oil and protein content: the grain contains an extremely high content of oil (20-25%) and protein (39-40%). • In a good setting and full vegetation, it gives high and quality crops. Traditional breeding reduced the content of anti-nutritional substances (TIAmg/g) of grain compared to standard varieties. GMO FREE. • Optimum sowing date: from April 15 • Quantity of seeds in sowing: 450,000 – 550,000 plants/ha The variety of indeterminate growth type (gradually grows and blooms), represents an excellent combination of potential yield and resistance to various production conditions, suitable for sowing within rows. |
