Soy – lat. Glycine max
Bc Institut has no breeding programmes of its own to create soya bean varieties. Over past ten years or so, intensive work is performed in soya bean seed production aiming at early and medium-early varieties (00, 0, 0-I).
The production programme of seed multiplication is performed with the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb and S.I.S., Società Italiana Sementi. All the varieties have been created through standard selection methods without genetic manipulation.

PEDRO | mid-early (0-I) • Flower color: violet • Hair color: brown • Stem: medium height to short, excellent resistance to lodging, at the time of harvest the stem is dry and without leaves • Resistance: excellent tolerance to diseases and lodging • Weight of 1000 grains: 165 – 175 g • Fertility: above 5.5 t/ha, Maximum yield in trials - 5.55 t/ha • Oil and protein content: the grain contains an extremely high content of oil (21-24%) and protein (39-40%). • In an optimal combination, it gives extremely high grain yields with low harvest moisture. Traditional breeding reduced the content of anti-nutritional substances (TIAmg/g) of grain compared to standard varieties.
